    Died:
Obituary - Pattersonville - After a long life full of family and friends, Margaret Herriott (Van Dyck) Fisher, of Pattersonville, New York, passed away in the comfort of her home early on the morning of April 23, 2017.
Born in Schenectady, NY on March 12, 1922, she was the sixth of eight children born to Louis Bevier Van Dyck II and Marguerite Justine (Towle) Van Dyck. The day of her birth coincided with her older sister Anne's third birthday so for all of her life she was known to those who loved her as Dolly in commemoration of the birthday gift her sister wished for.
She is survived by her son, John D. Fisher and daughter, Ann H. Fisher (Linville Meadows); a stepson, Thomas (Angie) Fisher; as well as five grandchildren, Morgan G. King (Megan Fuller), Alexander J. King (Angie Williamson), Elizabeth N. Fisher, Henry J. Fisher, and Ann M. Fisher; and one great-grandchild, Odessa King; her brother, David H. Van Dyck and his wife, Margaret (Briggs) Van Dyck. She is also survived by a large number of nephews and nieces and their offspring.
She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph V. Fisher; both her parents and her siblings, Louis B. Van Dyck III, Kathrine S. Turney, Peter C. Van Dyck, Anne J. McLaughry, Philip H. Van Dyck, and Richard A. Van Dyck.
Dolly attended Elmer Avenue, Oneida, and graduated from Nott Terrace High School in 1939. After high school she attended Mildred Elley where she learned skills that would serve her throughout her life. Her first job during the war years was as a file clerk at the General Electric Company. After taking some time to start a family, she resumed work as a postal clerk at both the Pattersonville and Rotterdam Junction Post Offices. She also managed to squeeze in a stint as a receptionist for a dermatology office in Schenectady.
She loved her family, her kitties, walking outdoors, knitting, summertime at Lake George, and played a fierce game of rummy. She was a champion multiple times in the bridge club she played with for over 50 years. After spending most of her life in Pattersonville, she knew everyone in town and treasured the kindness and friendship of her neighbors.
The family will have a graveside service at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her name can be made to the Pattersonville Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 77, Pattersonville, New York 12137, or Lake George Land Conservancy, 4905 Lake Shore Drive, Bolton Landing, NY 12814, The Nature Conservancy, 4245 North Fairfax Drive, Suite 100, Arlington, VA 22203.
